PRACTICAL & TACTICAL SELF-RELIANCE
HOW READY ARE YOU? FIND OUT
The Proving Grounds are a series of challenges to help assess your level of readiness. They are designed to help you see how prepared you are while helping expose and address any weaknesses in your system BEFORE they are needed. They are challenging, and they are meant to test you mentally as much as physically. So if you think you're ready to put your plan to the test, pick a challenge, run it through, and then share how it went. Your discoveries could help someone avoid needless angst. You got this!
Difficulty: EASY
Primary Objective: Demonstrate the ability to survive a short-term interruption using exclusively what you have in your home.
Secondary Objective: Test your mental mettle. You have the supplies, but do you have the discipline? This challenge is meant to help you expose any weaknesses in your pantry and address them while proving to yourself that you can do it!
Rules of Engagement: Don't go to the store, order in (or out), or visit a restaurant for a week. Don't even use the vending machine. Operate exclusively off of what you have in the pantry for seven days.

Difficulty: EASY
Primary Objective: Prove to yourself that you can get out of the house with all that you want to grab in under 10 minutes.
Secondary Objective: Hone your quick-thinking skills, experience (& overcome) a little chaos, and gain the assurance that you can flee safely without leaving critical items behind. Plus, it's a smart way to rotate and refresh your kits (check those expiration dates and clothing sizes!).
Rules of Engagement: You must use a physical clock or timer (preferably not your phone). Start the timer unexpectedly (e.g., during dinner or TV time for realism). Yell "Evacuate now!" and move. If the timer goes off, don't stop. Finish the job and then see how long it took. In your debrief, talk about what you need to do differently next time.
